Colored Man Wins.
Mr. Frederick W. Newman, a well known colored citizen of Harrisonburg, recently passed successfully a civil service examination and at the post office for the purpose of selecting a substitute mail carrier for Harrisonburg.
He stood third in the list making 74:20 and has been notified by Postmaster Keczel that the medical examination is all that stands between him and the position.
Mr. Newman, however, wrote to Mr. Keczel declining the position but requesting that his name be retained on the eligible list.
