Transcription
More than the usual amount of interest in off year elections was manifested in both official and unofficial circles yesterday. Particularly was this the case with reference to the states of Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, and Nebraska. The president being in Ohio, the White House last night was comparatively deserted. Several of the cabinet officers and a number of subordinate officials also went to their respective homes to exercise the elective franchise.
