Judge Samuel K. Coleman on Wednesday, June 24th, granted a writ of error and supersedeas to Mary Abernathy, under sentence of death and awaiting execution at Farmville, Va., July 8, 1896.
The effect of this is to suspend and to postpone indefinitely the hanging. In fact before that could now take place, she would have to be carried before Judge Crute during the session of the County Court of Prince Edward and be re-sentences.
