Summary
Two women, who were wrongly accused of murder, are granted a new trial by the Supreme Court of Appeals in Virginia.
Transcription
The granting of a new trial by the Supreme Court of Appeals of Virginia to Mary Abernathy, Pokey Barnes, Solomon Marable was an act of justice which will be readily recognized by right thinking people everywhere. And yet the result of this prolonged contention was achieved upon technical grounds alone.
Throughout this truly celebrated case has been evidence of God’s power. That the clerk of Lunenburg County Court should have so signally erred is remarkable.
Marable insists that the women are innocent, and is as humble and remorseful over the predicament in which he placed them as anyone could possibly be.
The matter is indeed in God’s hands and we await the result of the trial with that faith which comes to those who know they are in the right, and can be justified.
