The workingmen’s organization has decided to enter the Democratic Primary. Five of their representatives will be nominated and they will only vote for that five. They hope by this method to win. There has been a howl among the regular Democrats and the machine is also disgusted at the prospect.
The primary will be held under the provisions of the law making it legal and the apprehension as to the prosecution of the hirelings of the machine in the courts of law is what is causing the trouble. However, we shall await the outcome and see the extent of the uprising.
Councilman Epps has already boasted that he would control the primary, and as he is the accredited representative of this element, we presume he is putting his ideas into execution.
We should not be surprised to see the alleged reformers and the regulars change places.
If a ticket is placed in the field outside of the machine one, with Democrats leading both, the fight will be lively and interesting and before it is over, the heretofore disinterested people will have taken a hand, and the result will be an untold benefit to the city.
