The Planet gives a solution for moth infestations.

The only way to baffle moths and buffalo bugs is to leave them nothing to eat. But naphtha is death if it comes in contact with them. This must be carefully used. The rooms must be well ventilated after it has been sprinkled from the can. Use liberally.
To rid the house of flies have a window garden of geraniums and a calceolarias, and the flies will not trouble you.
The use of plenty of salt is a good preventive for moths.
Here is a preventive for moths which is also a good sachet. Take one ounce of florentine orris root; mix well and put in bags among clothes.
Pennyroyal is the best safeguard against moths.
Turpentine put very plentifully about the edge of carpets will keep away moths.
