Thought it Wise to Change

July 1, 1899

Summary

The Planet defends B.T. Hill as he remains under scrutiny for his vote to move a church convention.

Transcription

The above letter coupled with the fact that the time for the meeting of the Convention was too near the Board to make arrangements at some other point when the pastor of the White Rock Baptist Church should come to a decision; and believing that on account of division to sentiment the White Rock S.S. would not be able to care for the convention as they would like, the Executive Board thought it wise to change the place of meeting. This correspondence would never have published, but for the publication of Rev. Garland.

We feel that we have acted wisely, and are willing that the people decide. This was the unanimous action of the full Board, brethren Inge and Chick sending proxies favorable to a change. Only brethren Charnberlyee and C.H. Johnson were not heard from.

It is with the deepest feelings of sorrow that we find the Christian Organizer has made it appear that Pres. R.T. Hill was the sole cause of the change. Pres. Hill acted only as his duty as a Christian gentleman and president of the Convention demanded. The private wishes of a brother cannot stand in the way of our work for the Master.
